Oh my god! How can a person have gotten rid of the majority of their possessions to still have so much left over. Honestly, aside from my dining table and chairs and a couple of other small pieces of furniture the rest are just personal effects. So what constitutes personal effects anyway? Should I have sold and given away the linen, pillows and duvets? How about the kitchen dishes and appliances? Frig, it seems to never end.
You would not think that those types of things add up to much, but they do. And those final bits and pieces that hover about since you don’t know quite what to do with them, it seems that the boxes never end. This has driven me almost absolutely batty! But I am pretty much done except for those items I have kept out that I need for the next month.
I thought you might be interested in seeing a picture of my storage:
So here I have yet more stuff to fit in my almost full locker. This is a game I have come to know as “Storage Tetris” – and yes that is copyrighted by me right now as of January 21, 2011 on Sara-Jane’s Personal Odyssey Blog. Whatever … but really, I have come up with this term myself. How does one copyright something like this? Ok. Perhaps that is another blog. But in the meantime, seriously, this is what has been my last month – ” Storage Tetris”. Basically, getting all of your remaining belongings to fit into a very tiny storage locker. This has been somewhat frustrating because every time I think that is the end of the stuff, more stuff arises and needs to be stored. What can I say. Basically the way I feel can best be summed up as ” AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”!. Ok. Enough of my complaining. However, given how the picture above looks like there is no room, I did manage to fit the stuff in and here is the result:
K. Not sure if you can tell the difference, but I can. See if you can at least two changes …. Ah Storage Tetris – a game – only for the willing. Onwards and upwards.
Who’s stuff is this anyway? Com-on girl, how did you get so much stuff when your roots aren’t down? We love you.
Tell me about it. Driving me crazy. Can’t believe how much stuff a person has once they sell off all their tools and furniture – well I did keep the dining room table afterall. But the rest is just things like linens, towels, clothes, photo albums, favourite reference books, journals, kitchen stuff, etc… and it just keeps adding up. Argh! Sometimes a house burning down would be easier because no decisions would have to be made.
Love ya lots, hope all is well.
So? Tetris means?
Well tetris is a computer game from the 80’s or was that the 90’s, where blocks of various shapes fell from the top of the screen and you had to rotate and move them to fit in the wall that was building at the bottom. When you managed to fill in a line without and spaces, it disappeared and you got points and had more space to work with again. So storage tetris is making all your bits and pieces fit into a very small space by taking advantage of shapes and sizes and available holes to stuff them in, thus in the end, creating a fairly solid mass with few empty holes. Best use of space as I see it.
