So last night, I had thought of going to bed around 8 pm having holed myself up in my room and not thinking I felt like being social or dealing with people I was not talking to. But I thought, well, I should just go down and take one last stroll through the hotel, Smuggler’s Cove. It is afterall my last night and I did see a bunch of chairs set up for something.
Well am I glad I did that. Glistening chiseled bodies dressing in traditional gear, doing the various polynesian, malanesian, micronesian dances. Two beautiful women moving their hips the way only belly dancers can. Up to 12 men doing their traditional dance. Man can they move. It is spell binding. I couldn’t stop watching. The music was wonderful and the dance moves exceptional. Not to mention the bodies!!!!
I just wish I had grabbed my camera earlier to capture some of the dance. Sadly, by the time I grabbed my camera, they were onto the fire show. But at least I have some of that.
A malanesian, Denny, who I had met at Beachouse came up to me. “Sara, how are you. I couldn’t believe I saw you from over there. How are you? How long are you here?” “I leave tomorrow Denny.” Quite pleased to see him as if you see my other post, I had been a bit discouraged not having really met anyone while at Smugglers. “Come join us,” Denny invited. Which after the show I did. It was great, Denny and two of his business buddies and four other girls, one Welsh, one American, and two Fijian. They tried to get me to come with them to a club in Nadi, but I turned them down knowing I would have to check out this morning early. It probably would have been good fun as they were so friendly and kind and really seemed to enjoy my company. Next time I guess. But what an amazing final night in Fiji.
Shoulda woulda coulda
You can always sleep tomorrow
I know, I was playing it too boring and conservative. Next time. I am sure many more opportunities will arrive in the next countries.
Too bad you did not join them as they sounded very nice – next time!!!
Yes – I know, next time. The one Fijian girl asked me if I was from Canada and when I said yes, she said she could tell because all Canadians are always so happy.
i was thinking of you yesterday at my rehearsal….wished so much you lived here and were involved in the musical we’re doing…..cause you can move baby. what did you eat in fiji?
Thanks baby!! Yes I would love to do live theatre again and a musical. What did I eat in Fiji? Now there is a question from left field. Um – fish – lot’s of fish – prawns – salads – casava – pumpkin.
