So this one deep sea water spider of the coast of New Zealand has its reproductive organs in its legs. Brings a whole new meaning to the thought of losing and arm or leg, or for that matter, breaking one. This fish starts off as a female and then two years into its life it changes into a male. Boy, one could really get some revenge on the opposite gender with such an opportunity.

A very detailed and fascinating Peter Pan sculpture donated to Oamaru in 1927 I believe and sits in their beautiful gardens.
You know, you read that I loved Fiji – which I did. it is always fun to visit paradise and life in such contrast to your own. I definitely enjoyed myself and wouild go again. But I don’t feel the same connection to countries such as that as i do to those countries that better reflect my heritage. Although I love nature in all it’s forms, I think it is the relationships to people and culture that make me feel “at home”. Such is the case in a place like New Zealand.
All my life I have been attracted to fashion, actors, athletics, bodies, impressions. And I am not going to apologize for it. I know enough people who would “poo-poo” it, but put them in the centre of such a swirl, I think they would embrace it. I have always been good with faces, whether famous or unknown, I remember them. On the famous ones most of the commentary I read on them makes me laugh, but I am interested in the aesthetics. What is pleasing to my eye and why. Note I said “my” eye. Just a meandering thought …
A lovely lady from Christchurch was revelling in the Oamaru Public Gardens. She was taking a break from the stress of the earthquake. She was entraptured by the peace and beauty. She was in love with Oamaru. Calm and a jump back in time. May it be ever protected by Mother Nature.
I want to run and be free. To jump back to a simpler time. A time before instantaneous gratification. A time of repose and reflection. I have been there before. And perhaps that is why I long for it. I am constantly and consistently drawn to feelings and environments that remind me of “my” Europe. The Europe that draws me. Something draws me but I am not sure what it is. Just some more random thoughts.
I am loving all the beautiful photographs you are taking – wish I was there!!!
I wonder if there was less stress long ago!!!
By the way your Aunt Vi says she has posted some comments and wondered if you were getting them.
Yup – I reply to every comment – well almost every – but certainly did reply to Aunt Vi’s. Do you get my replies Mum or do you have to go onsite to find them?
I’m Mum now, yeh
Yes – probably better.
Mark made me change my name to Mum instead of Gladys Brocklehurst – said it was too formal.
You should have gone with Happy Bottom
Hi Sara, I’ve been checking up on you and enjoying your trip very much thank you!
I think the “confusion” resulted from newer posts showing up on the left instead on the right as it did today.
Enjoy, and I look forward to your more….
Annette
Hopefully, although they were referring to a long ago post as the last one they saw. Just want to be sure my readership is continually being entertained!! (cough cough snort snort!)
I will be interested to hear how you will compare New Zealand and Australia. I believe the Australians are friendlier. Jill, Graham and family lived in New Zealand for some time and she absolutely loved and would liked to have stayed, only it was too far from home!!
How come she wanted to stay if Australia is friendlier. So far so good in Australia. Will keep you posted.
I go on to your blog to get your replies – always pleased to hear from you. – it is the first thing I look for on my computer in the morning.
Well you are my biggest fan Mum!
