I really shouldn’t be complaining, being in Fiji and all, but the reason I took a more expensive single room for my last couple of nights was to get organized, have a little bit of luxury and to get some good interrupted sleep. So what happens? Well I get given a room, which has a door divider, which is locked, next to a young couple (guessing by hearing their conversation) who decide to party, giggle and talk until 2 am.
I am just shy at 1:30 am of knocking on their door to let them know I can hear everything that they are saying and doing (well almost) but once again don’t want to disturb anyone and not sure if that would be very nice. Damn I hate this British decorum I was brought up with – let’s not upset anyone.
So finally after lying there wondering what I can do, I turn on my t.v. and turn up the volume to give them a sign. That seemed to have worked since shortly afterward, they shut up and went to sleep although not before knocking something over and breaking glass. Then I started to wonder, were they trying to give me a signal?
I really have to get over this shyness of establishing boundaries even with strangers. O.K. just think of a beach like setting in the South Pacific … !
you got to find a hostel for older people, they must exist, this situation would spoil my experience, any camp sites around…….get into camp mode.
Well last night was much better. Yes I suppose their would be hostels for older people – the more expensive ones. A girl last night was telling me about a hostel in Sydney she was in where the dorm room had 34 people. You won’t catch me dead in that one. The only problem with camp mode – and yes their is always that option- is that I didn’t bring camping gear with me – aka tent – since I was trying to limit my baggage. Well I am off to New Zealand today anyway where my base is my girlfriends. Had fun last night. Will be adding a number of blogs later today regarding the last night in Fiji. Stay tuned.
Looking forward to reading about your las night in Fiji – despite the odd hiccup, you had a great time and it looked absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Love Mum
