K. Not sure if I am a bad omen or what. When I visited new Zealand back in December 2004, the 26th was the date of the earthquake tsunami that killed 250,000. This time, first there is the earthquake in Christchurch, and then the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear explosion in Japan.
The first day I arrived in Queenstown and went hiking up Queenstown Hill, there was an older couple hiking. The woman was busy taking pictures. I gained on her partner, an older gentleman with a walking stick, who was ambling leisurely. As I passed him, he looked at me, said “Hi”, and then suddenly stumbled and started rolling into the ditch. I immediately stopped to help him up asking if he was alright. He had tripped on a grating cover of sorts.
Then today, coming around the corner of a supermarket racing for the bus, I passed an elderly couple and ever so slightly brushed the lady’s shoulder. Well suddenly she wiped out and fell down. “Oh my gosh,” I exclaimed, “Are you alright? Did I hit you?” “No “, she said, “I tripped.” And sure enough another gentleman pointed out an interlocking brick that was cracked coming out of its hole that had tripped her up. In each case they were fine, more embarrassed than anything I think.
But now I am starting to wonder. Then as I race out of the store where I had bought a sandwich for the bus, right infront of me, an elderly lady, getting into a taxi, the driver was dealing with her walker, falls backwards onto the sidewalk. The taxi driver lunges to help her.
So I am, in all my guilt laden conscience, starting to wonder if I am a bad omen. I am starting to wonder if this is more than just coincidence. Elderly people, please steer clear from me!!!!
BEWARE! Sara is near! … silly! Perhaps an opportunity inviting you to slow down and watch YOUR step!! Smell the roses … it seems that each of your stories has you in fast motion, much faster than the elderly. I don’t know … but it is worth pondering. Take your time and enjoy EVEN MORE!!!
Love you…
Um – K – I do stop and smell the roses – literally – did it all day today. And what about the earthquakes? Wasn’t in a rush then!
Ok … just a thought.
Always good to have thoughts
