Eumundi Market

The doggy puppet singing guy - he manipulates the three puppets while singing and playing guitar

On Wednesday before I left Coolum Beach, James took me to the Eumundi Market.  This little town holds a diverse and fun market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  I was actually really impressed with all the things available.  Lots and lots of artisans and yummy food.  The picture of this guy above does not do it any justice.  He plays the guitar and sings whilst pulling at all the various levers to make the three dogs do various things while they are actually the ones singing the song – at least to the observer.  I found it extremely funny and entertaining.  The female dogs boobs bopped in and out, the other dogs nose popped in and out and the yellow dogs heart popped in an out or something like that.  He was very talented.

Another multi talented multi instrumented entertainer - here he is playing the didgeridoo or whatever.

Anyway, if I wasn’t traveling for so long and had more money, I certainly would have bought stuff.  Australia is very expensive and when I know I am going to Malaysia next where things are relatively cheap, I can’t justify buying anything here.  But unlike most markets I have visited which just have lots of the same old, this one was different.

After the market James took me to Buderim or Bundurem or something like that (just not Bundeberg) – they grow ginger and make all sorts of ginger products.  Ginger beer (non-alcoholic) is very popular here.  Macadamia nuts are also another big product.

A tree's roots curving around the wood retainer like a snake. I thought it was pretty cool

So my time was up on the Sunshine Coast.  I really liked it.  The kite surfing was excellent, the water warm, and the weather great – apparently the coldest it gets in the winter is maybe 5 C at night but it generally goes up to 20 C during the day.  I could handle that.
