So let it be known that although kangaroos appear cute and cuddly, they can be quite nasty. They can snap your leg with a swing of that tail. Not that I encountered that side of them when I encountered them during camping. Quite the opposite. They were just peacefully hanging out and eating the grass, which I understand is helpful in the case of campsites, but not so great to farmers since they are a bit of a pest eating crops etc…
I was quite amused when I took the above photo and caught the gentleman kanga with his willy hanging out and lo and behold it is corkscrew shape. I had quite fun showing this to my Aussie camping mates most of who had not seen one. We all had quite a little laugh over this. They dared asked me to post this!
This little guy was just hanging out on the veranda at the house. I got a little giggle when I asked the obvious question of “I guess the males don’t have a pouch?” Well I had to ask, just to be sure. Besides, Aussies are a little strange so who’s to say that male kangas don’t have some use for a pouch. Maybe they need to carry their condoms in there, or perhaps their keys to the jimmy.
But given that I don’t get to see this little dudes back in Canada, I took a bunch of pictures that I wanted to post, thus the excuse for this post.
They seem to be pretty tame – not afraid of people.
Well these ones are but I still wouldn’t want to try and pet them.
Thanks for posting these great Kangaroo pictures. I cannot believe how close you were to them. I hope that you left the joey behind…
You’re welcome. I left joey behind
Wee willy winkie my son John…
