Melbourne or Bust!

Funky old building in Melbourne but I can't tell you what it was.

So had a good full day wondering around Melbourne and got a much better feel for it.  It was a bit chilly with the wind but nothing compared to winter in Canada.  It is the International Comedy Festival here but I did not get a chance to partake as I needed to be packed and in bed early for the plane on April 1 to go to the Sunshine Coast.  I can’t believe it thought that I missed an opportunity to see Tim Minchin ~ my favourite new comedian.  He is an awesomely funny, talented Aussie pianist, lyricist, singer, performer.  Check him out at www.timminchin.com.  I think his star is only starting to rise.  I am totally enamoured by him.

Man - who built these buildings!!! Getting artsy fartsy with reflections.

Anyway, I digress.  Melbourne is quite lovely on the Yarra River and has lots of parkland.  It blends the old and the new.  The transportation system is excellent.  I think I like Sydney better so far but then again I had an excellent host there who helped me discover the city.  I still have to see the Rocks before I leave.

Yes that is a teenage boy standing under that branch - one big honkin' tree in Fitzroy Park in Melbourne

So I am off to my next couch surf.  A bunch of us are going camping for the weekend.  Should be fun.  Stay tuned.
