So I have to apologize for lack of posts the past couple of days. The oppressive heat, the available food and the way it is prepared and my digestive tract have not been getting along. It was at its worst last night when I even had a temperature of 100F. I fear eating anything. I think it all started my birthday night when I had a green salad for dinner. I forgot the rule that in the tropics you need to stay away from anything washed by water or that isn’t peeled. Fiji was so much better relatively speaking. But Asia, well the water and the ability to keep foods safe and fresh is questionable. And my poor system doesn’t have the appropriate enzymes, critters or whatever else it needs to combat new intrusions.
Since Wednesday, and we are now Sunday morning, my system has not been absorbing much and I have just started eating less and less since the intestinal spasms and lack of absorption becomes exhausting. The good thing about it is that I have lost weight (which I wanted to) without trying. The bad thing about it is that you become very lethargic, disinterested and struggle to do anything. Yesterday was definitely the worst and I spent most of the afternoon alternating between being too hot and too cold (in tropical heat!!) and feeling overall like crap. But I think as of this morning I feel better. I did everything I knew how to do to kick it.

Froggies that are all over the place I am staying. They are quite small but make a HUGE sound in the night.
People rave about Southeast Asia as such a great place to come. And certainly it is cheap. But sadly dirty. Garbage tends to be everywhere and in the non-stop oppressive heat how do you keep anything clean and free of contamination. You never feel quite clean. Ants, mosquitos, ticks are everywhere. These little tiny ants are incredibly industrious. If you spill even a little bit of juice there will be an entire army marching to and fro from that drop in seconds. It was amazing watching them all work together to carry a dead wasp, 100’s of times their size, up a wall and then across to whereever. So now with my sensitive system I fear any food. I just don’t know the repurcussion. But I am hungry so I will find something. I think I like at least some seasonal differences. This kind of non-stop heat would drive me a little batty.
.Sorry to hear that you are not feeling too well – although I can understand with the different food and oppresive heat. I think we are lucky with our seasons – we really appreciate a lovely warm day (can be the exception)
Off tomorrow – badly need a rest from all the tennis work. Had Albert here tonight until around 11.30, to take over some of my duties and help bank all the money I have collected.
Have fun in Scotland. I have wrestled and beat the intestinal bug!
