Even though you may have seen many a picture of the Roman Forum ruins, they are still spectacular when actually there. A picture cannot do them justice. Their enormity against a little human body is spell-binding.
Julius Ceasar actually started the building of the Forum in 46 BC. So the fact that any parts of it are still standing is pretty cool. It was actually funny as I was wandering around and looking at it, some English-speaking people walked by me and the young teenage boy said to his Mum, “Can we go now, this is boring,” which I thought was really funny. I guess without a video game and such, these amazing, 2000 year old structures, built by tiny little humans and still standing after all that the world has been through, is boring. Yup, gotta love the young generation.
So I completed my tour of Rome, went to see a couple of other amazing oversized structures and then headed back to the B&B to prepare for the journey to Abruzzo. I could have stayed longer. Rome has a lot of class. How’s that for a succinct ending. Ran out of something to say – how strange is that?
Sad to leave Rome I am sure but on to another adventure!!!
Yes in the mountains of Abruzzo. Is that where the Zentil’s are from?
I hope that you tossed a coin for good luck into the Trevi fountain. More importantly, I hope that you posed in front of this beautiful fountain.
No posing infront of it this time. It was really crowded with tourists.
That’s too bad, but I guess, this fountain would always be crowded.
What about the coin toss? I guess, you cannot afford to throw your money away, right? HAHAHA
No – didn`t even think about it. But I did think about throwing my whole body in because it is pretty darn hot.
