Street Festival, Music and More

Hanging out in downtown Sundsvall

On my second night here, Lottie and I met up with Mike downtown Sundsvall (we biked there of course) and some other friends for a couple of drinks and then Lottie and friends and I were going to check out the music festival.

Sofia (on the right) and her sister Maria.

Sofia, one of Lottie’s friends, used to live in Whistler and now has moved to Sundsvall.  Both her and her sister Maria were great fun.  We wondered around the festival, amongst all ages, and all levels of inebriation and checked out the food, the rides, the music and the sites.

Mike and Lottie ham it up for the camera.

It was packed at the smaller venues and at 11 pm we went to the main stage to see a young blues band.  Sort of like Amy Winehouse if she was actually sober and clean.  Infact, this young Swedish girl had a lot of talent.  She really did remind me of what Amy Winehouse could have been had she kept her life together and stayed away from drugs and alcohol.

The vibrant energetic half pint of a singer.

I have not explored Sundsvall in detail yet, but at a quick glance in my movement about the area, there is a distinctly different feel to the architecture and style in Sweden that I have not seen before.  Very different from Europe.  Simpler, classic lines.  But there will have to be more on that.
