On my second night here, Lottie and I met up with Mike downtown Sundsvall (we biked there of course) and some other friends for a couple of drinks and then Lottie and friends and I were going to check out the music festival.
Sofia, one of Lottie’s friends, used to live in Whistler and now has moved to Sundsvall. Both her and her sister Maria were great fun. We wondered around the festival, amongst all ages, and all levels of inebriation and checked out the food, the rides, the music and the sites.
It was packed at the smaller venues and at 11 pm we went to the main stage to see a young blues band. Sort of like Amy Winehouse if she was actually sober and clean. Infact, this young Swedish girl had a lot of talent. She really did remind me of what Amy Winehouse could have been had she kept her life together and stayed away from drugs and alcohol.
I have not explored Sundsvall in detail yet, but at a quick glance in my movement about the area, there is a distinctly different feel to the architecture and style in Sweden that I have not seen before. Very different from Europe. Simpler, classic lines. But there will have to be more on that.
I like the one picture you have of Swedish architecture and I look forward to more to come. You are right about the style being simple…just think of IKEA. 🙂
I love your picture of Lottie and you.
So, how are you liking Swedish food so far?
Yes I think of Ikea too. I love the simplicity. Very practical yet proud culture. And Swedish food is great and healthier overall than Italian food. Dark breads, high fibre cereals, cheese, fish, vegetables.
OMG! I knew that there was more than one reason to visit Sweden, but thanks for reminding me. 🙂
I’m happy that you are enjoying Sweden. Have you learned any Swedish yet?
Learning little bits of the language through my friend but it is a tough one.
Which girl is your friend – and I can’t remember how you knew here – was it at University that you originally met.
Have you heard also that Ross’s fiancee just had a baby girl?
No, Lottie, the tall, blond, very Swedish looking, was mine and David’s neighbour in Smithers. They lived next door to us. Yes I heard about Ross and responded on facebook and have already sent their gifts but have not heard from them whether they received them.
