I arrived in Bridlington at about 2:30 on Saturday. Pam, my cousin, was having a party for her 21st + 29th. I had wanted to come to this. I always love visiting my cousin Pam. It is always so easy to visit. She is a person without platitudes or attitudes who is not afraid to speak her mind but is also incredibly kind, giving, helpful and generous. You always know where you stand with her and it is great, because there is no guesswork. I quite enjoy that level of authenticity. And obviously so do her many friends a shown by all the people that came to her party, some from 3 or 4 hours away. And what a party it was.
It was a black and white theme with a bit of a Spanish flare. Most people did their best to come in those “colours” although black pervaded more than the white. I don’t know exact numbers but we tripped the light fantastic until about 3 am. I actually went to bed at 1 am since I had been up since 3 am that morning. The food was amazing. Lots and lots of tapas.
Unfortunately the weather was not the best and we had to prepare the place for potential rain that came right before the party started but luckily for the most part, held off for the bulk of the party. I got to meet some really wonderful people. Pam’s friends were all very kind and accepting of me as I babbled on about my adventures and where I had been. Her friend Colin provided some great entertainment as a Spanish dance instructor, Juan Tumany was his name. There are many videos of that part but most are very long. Here is a short one as Juan first introduced himself.
But there was lots of laughter, dancing, and silliness that pervaded. Wonderful time, wonderful people, new friends and great fun. Then again, I always love my times in Britain. Must be because I am British and I naturally get the humour and the fun. All the people I met at Pam’s party were really authentic and from past posts, you know how I feel about authenticity in people. So I am happy to say I have a range of new friends.
It was also a night of look alikes for me. There was one of Pam’s friends that reminded me completely of the actress Lena Olin. Also I thought Pam’s husband, Steve reminded me of Colin Firth. I think it is in the accent but there is something in the face too. Sorry the picture is blurry.
So here’s a shout out to all the great people I met and a big thanks to Pam for a great party and good fun!
Miust have been a great party – Pam did a wonderful job with the food – all these tapas she made herself – congratulations Pam!!!
Pam says thanks. She is the host with the most, but then again, us Brocklehurst’s always know how to put on a good party!
Had a little help from Steve too, tho it was hard work but worth it to see that everyone enjoyed and ate them all up!
I look forward to joining this “Cincuenta Club”, because it looks like more fun than the Red Hat Society. 🙂
I’m happy for you that you were able to share your cousin Pam’s special party with her and her friends. It looks like fun was had by all….
Speaking of parties…..remember that SMLS reunion you organized for us? It was a great idea and all who attended had a blast, I can vouch for that!
Thanks Sara-Jane for being the perfect guest both partying and staying over. You did mounds of washing up and loading and unloading the dishwasher (which I have to say has told me to tell you “it’s exhausted”. Both Steve and I are really pleased that you could make it to me Viva La Cincuenta party and a blast it was. I had the best time and thoroughly enjoyed have friends and family around to help celebrate who judging by my photos had a blast to. :0) xx
My pleasure Cuz. It was fun for sure! You and Colin (Firth) :o) are great hosts!!!!
You do realise I won’t hear the end of Colin Firth, he reminded me again this morning!!
Hee hee hee
Amazing party loved the company and loved meeting you too x happy travelling …
Thanks Gina. As Arnold Schwarzinegar (however the hell you spell that) says, “I’ll be back!”
