NOTE: I had to upload the videos through my site and not youtube since youtube removed them because of infringement but similar videos remain on their site – so I have circumvented – but it does make the upload slower.
So this is not going to be a long post because I am only in Oslo for a short period and I have to get outside to wander about. But when I arrived yesterday to see my friend Cathrine, whom I have not seen since 1988 – and by the way she is as lovely as ever – looks the same – she told me she had tickets to Prince that night as it had been rescheduled having originally been around the time of the bombings/shootings. So I was totally game to go. Cathrine’s partner, PerOla, is a sound engineer so gets good tickets for these sorts of events. And – yup – they were great tickets. The venue was excellent with the seats being on a really good angle so that the people infront of you would not be in your way.
Short video of the stadium before the show – oh and Cathrine!
… and then Prince came out. No opening band, just 2 hours of Prince – now this man is a real artist.
He was so good. The light show was innovative without being distracting. Except for his drummer and synth player, all his other musicians were women. And they were excellent and beautiful. I wonder if he would have someone in the band who was not a natural beauty. He played all his well known hits and a couple of covers and others. He jammed and changed things up. Got a lot of audience participation and did his trademark dancing. All in all, one of the best concerts I have seen.

It is always such a pleasure seeing a talented musician who doesn’t lipsynch, still puts on a show, and can jam spontaneously and just go with what the feel of the audience is telling him to do. Apparently each show is different.
My favourite – Little Red Corvette (removed because of infringement)
So as I said, a short post with some snippets of the concert – enjoy and stay tuned for more Oslo. Thanks Cathrine!
Aren’t you lucky to see Prince in concert? Thanks for sharing some concert snippets with us. It must have been an awesome, amazing and wild show! He is a true showman… 🙂
