Saying Goodbye to Cologne and Friends

Felix and Ines at the train station

It has been a blur of a week so far.  Felix and Ines returned from their 6 months of travel on Monday afternoon.  After almost 24 hours of travel they were tired but needed to push through to bedtime.  So I had prepared a bunch of yummy food and we enjoyed the spread and then head out to the park to enjoy the first sun since I had been in Cologne for 2 weeks.  It was great to see them.  They are so relaxed and real.  What a gift to be able to have met them when I did by chance 3 months ago in Malaysia.  Then again is anything by chance?

Hee hee - sorry guys, I had to put this one in.

The next day we went for a lovely brunch and then Ines had to take the train to her parents to get her car.  I then too, a couple of hours later, had to head back to the train station to get to Brussels.  But it was great having at least 24 hours with these two and I hope to see them again when I am house sitting in Brussels as they may come visit.  So I hopped the train to Brussels since I had to take the plane from Charleroi to Oslo where I am now.  But this did afford me the chance to meet Donal, the person’s apartment and cat I am taking  care of for two weeks at the end of August.

Colourful buildings in old Cologne

I don’t have any pictures yet of Brussels but there will be loads to come.  I will be located right in the centre.  Donal took me out for a lovely dinner which was incredibly kind of him.  Then he gave me a quick orientation to the centre and we watched the light show at the Grand Place which I will have to go back to to get pictures or video.  The next morning he even took me to the train to get me to the airport.  He is a very kind person.  He is a translator and speaks fluent Italian and French as well.  It was great in Brussels being able to use my French.  I am so excited.  Anyway, that’s about it for this post and now Oslo.

Oh my god, that tree is growing a church!
