I love this shot. Justyne, who I originally met in Sienna, Italy, and I got together for some dins. We had not seen each other since Sienna which was back in late June. My goodness how time flies. Justyne is actually from Australia and is now living in London. I was supposed to get together with her again tonight but I am so tired and I leave for Iceland tomorrow so I had to bail on her and I feel terrible about that.
It was great to get together with a fellow roamer of the earth and chat about things that we both understand and appreciate. When I return in the new year, as is my plan, then we will definitely get together then. But in the meantime, we had a good night. I met her at a pub near Trafalgar Square, which is busy but beautiful.
I realized, given my central location near Victoria Station, and probably because I have been travelling for 8 months and I am getting a little tired, that I have not been venturing far out of this centre area. And still I have barely seen anything and I leave tomorrow. Where does the time go?
I have barely made a dent. I will need to sleep for a week to catch up on lost sleep over the last months. So much to do and so much to see. London is a bustling place. It really reminds me of that movie Blade Runner. There are so many languages and nationalities here. It is one big melting pot. And still the history persists.
There is such a mix of modern and ancient. Old and new. Medieval and post-whatever. But it is a fun city and I really need more time here. People say it is expensive but they must mean to rent because I have not found the food or other purchases to be any different than my experiences elsewhere.
So I had a good catch-up with Justyne, we had a yummy dinner and then headed our separate ways. And as I walked back to my accommodation I was in the late night picture taking mood. It was still really busy out and the moon was just past full so it was pretty good for photos. I feel sad now that I am leaving tomorrow. Four more sleeps and I will be back in Canada. I think I am going to start suffering early withdrawal.
And I have to finish this post with yet one more shot of Justyne!
