Old Friends Old City

Me and Jose out for dinner

Here I am in London.  I have been here many times before but the last time was in my 20s.  Mostly when I come to Britain, I fly into Manchester and totally bystep London because it is such a busy place.  I honestly am more into the smaller cities. But it was time to get to London to rediscover it.  And this place is so big, you just don’t know where to start.

However, regardless of that, and London pictures yet to come, I was also excited to be meeting friends of the past.  Luckily for me, my friend Jose, who I had dated 18 years ago, was here on business and we were able to go out for dinner.  What I love is how much things change but how much they stay the same.

Full moon London - late at night

That being said, Jose is still the guy I remember albeit a little older and wiser (the latter being his words!!).  It was great catching up and fascinating how it can be as if it was yesterday that we were having dinner at Mr. Greeks on the Danforth in Toronto.  Although I understand this is all gone now too.

Yup - me being me in front of the Westminster Arch

We enjoyed some less than up to par Spanish tapas (Jose’s review) and just caught up on lost time.  He has two boys now and lives in Luxembourg with his wife Brenda.  Doing well and enjoying life.  He was a great person to bounce off my ideas and desires to move overseas since he too, although born in Canada to Spanish parents was eager to be back in Europe.

Priests entering Westminster Cathedral for some occasion of sorts I have no idea about

So as time ticks along to my return to Canada and my plan to return as soon as possible back overseas, I realize how many friends I have over here.  I have some exceptional and great friends in Canada but I have so many friends in so many countries here in Europe and once you are here, it is so easy to get around from country to country.

The incredibly amazing Westminster Cathedral interior

So the path remains clear and my adventure continues.
