Peter and Grin's place - my final haven on Gabriola

I have been slow to post here on Gabriola.  It has been interesting being back on the island.  It is great seeing my friends from here.  However coming back to tie up loose ends is a bit like walking backwards.  Even though I know I am moving forwards there are so many memories from here, and B.C. in general that are stimulated just by being here. So that in itself is an interesting experience.

Stuff cluttering my mind and space

I have been staying mostly with my friend Jude and her daughter Jemma. I am busy during the day emptying my storage and sorting through all my stuff at the house that I stayed in before leaving, which is Peter and Grin’s place. They are really kind to let me use it while I am here and it is a good thing as I would have driven Jude crazy if I had to have all my stuff all over her place as I figured out what to get rid of and what to keep.

Jude's place

So now I am down to the final push. I will have to do a practice load in the car to see what can’t fit and make some final decisions. That will likely be my task today. It is actually very stressful trying to figure out what items of personal importance to get rid of or keep. I am amazed how many things I still have when I get rid of the excess.

GIRO - Gabriola Island Recycling Organization - where most of my stuff has gone

It’s often down to things like books and linens. To replace them all costs money but I didn’t think about them when I was travelling and I certainly won’t take them with me when I go overseas. So they would be here for me on my return but when will that be? So many unknowns, so how do you prepare. Well let’s see what transpires today as I load the car and see what my little Toyota Echo can hold. Stuff. Man can it weigh you down.

Fond regards for stuff enroute to GIRO - NOT
