What goes around comes around. Full circle. Nine months ago I was playing the game of storage tetris putting the remainder of my belongings in a 4 x 6 x 8 storage locker. I was fairly sure I would be settling back in BC and would need the stuff. Well now here I am, in BC with 13 days to get rid of all of it except my most important personal belongings. But that is a challenge.
The little island of Gabriola is not a great place to try and get rid of stuff. People seem to have too much as it is. To try and get money for stuff is even harder. Much will likely just go to recycling which really is such a shame. But what can I do? I can’t take it with me.
It’s funny being back and having to deal with stuff from the past – aka storage. It actually makes me a bit anxious. Travelling was so great because I was moving forward and discovering new things and new opportunities. Now I have to sort of go backwards a bit, back to the past, and deal with things I just shoved to the side at the time.
There is a lesson in that. You can’t just shove things to the side because eventually you have to deal with them.
I don’t envy you and I feel your frustration, because my most treasued belongings are already stored in my parents’ locker. However, I still have stuff in my basement, which needs sorting, but since I tend to be somewhat of a packrat, it is very difficult to get rid of my things…..Good luck to you and I hope that you are up to the challenge.
Never backed down from a challenge yet – but I can’t wait to be done.
Have been away for a week and just catching up with your news. It must be very hard to get rid of some of your stuff – you know you can always leave some things with me. Love Mum
