Wow, what a day. Got up early, had my free breakfast – fried eggs, fresh cooked tomato, hashbrowns, toast, juice and a coffee. Did some work and e-mailed it. Went and had a free workout in the gym, cleaned up and headed out. Went to St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge and walked along the Thames. Everyone was out. It was glorious. Sunny, hot, 14C and it’s March 1. You could not help but feel great. Tonnes of people were jogging along the waterfront.
You can see construction going on everywhere in preparation for the Olympics and you get great views from the Bridge.
I decided to use the ankle express to get to where I was meeting up with my friend Justyne, who I met in Florence, although she is from Australia and is living here for the while. I dawdled along enjoying the sun and the happy hustle bustle that seemed to be going on everywhere. When I got to Trafalgar Square it was buzzing with people.
And what a Square it is! It is so grand and imposing. Statues, the National Gallery, fountains and the Olympic Time Clock. Meeting up again with Justyne was great and when I get back into London in a couple of weeks we are going to paint the town red. Beware. Two wild women on the prowl!!!!
So now I sit enjoying a Guiness in a real pub and doing a post since tomorrow I am up to my cousin Pam’s in Bridlington and she is putting on a benefit at the Golf Course there so I doubt I will have a chance to post.
So more later….
I’m liking all of these pictures, especially the last one……
Enjoy your visit with your cousin and I hope that you make your way to Wales. 🙂
Seems like your shoulders are coming down. More in your element with all sorts of awe inspiring sights, sounds and stuff … like that … you know. Love the architecture when the old meets the new. The old quarters are good for historical perspective but I like it when all of the ages collide.
Yes – that’s true – it is interesting some of the new architecture as well, but I guess I am still so drawn by the artistry and detail that comes with the older architecture that I find it so alluring. And in London there is some amazing modern architecture as well.
