The Journey Feels Different This Time

Oxford Circus

So yes, I am on a journey but it is not the same as last time.  This time is a little less exploratory, although that will occur, but more unknown as well in some ways.  This time it is more about seeing friends I have had for a long time and new ones I met on the last set of travels.

Funky architecture

I am still enthralled by the history and scenery but since I am doing a little work along the way as well, my focus is more about getting a sense of the feel of living rather than travelling.  As some famous dude said, it is more about the journey than the destination.  Just can’t remember his name.

I just liked this because it said Che Sara Sara - have no idea why

London is great and I am trying to see more of it than I did the last time.  Although since I am heading off to Bridlington tomorrow, further exploration will have to wait until I return in a week and a half – potentially.  I might just head over to Wales for a quick sojourn since I have not been there before.  Then I will head back to see and hang out with a couple of friends I have here in London and then the house sit.

Watching an act in Covent Garden

I have an odd calm here this time.  Almost like a “ya this is cool” feeling.  Hard to explain.  I met a documentary director at the airport on my way over and had a good conversation with him about my interest in film and hosting.  He told me to drop him a line and send the link to my blog.  So that’s kind of cool.  I keep forgetting to do that though.  Duh!

All over London are 400 of these eggs all painted differently by different artists - it's a competition

Anyway, this is a good time to visit London as it is not so nearly as congested as it is in the summer and especially this summer with the Olympics.  People do talk about London being expensive.  When it comes to transportation and accommodation, yes it is.  But the cost of food and groceries is far less than back in Canada.  I actual am finding it cheaper than Toronto and Mississauga by a long shot.  A guiness for instance is only around 3 or 4 pounds – so $5 – 6.  Back home that same guiness is usually about $8.  Same goes for food and groceries.  So I am not sure why Canada is so costly – maybe more choice being so close to Europe.

Loved this one

Anyway, gotta run.  Lots to do.

The Free Mason's Library - SERIOUSLY? It's enormous!
