I do really like travelling with someone. However, having spent so much time travelling alone, it is a somewhat delicate balance to do stuff with the other person but then fulfill your need for your own time to explore at your own pace.
Poor Paul had to find this out with me. Perhaps it was a bit of a shock or perhaps not, but after Paul and I went to visit Gaudi’s Park, Parc Guiell (I think), I suggested we go our own ways and meet up for dinner.
I wanted to walk from the Park back to our accommodation. I always find that walking, without a big agenda and without trying to hit tourist ‘must-see’ destinations, is often the best way of finding the ‘gems’, the hidden and even not so hidden ‘spots’.
Now Gaudi’s Park is beautiful, but once again, overrun with tourists. So we enjoyed the general ambience and then parted ways. As I said to Paul, I am all for trying to see those things where you say “been there done that” but sometimes I question its value. It is hard to get a feel for a place when you are inundated with humans.
Anyway, slowly making my way back, I found cool pedestrian streets, markets and places to dine. I even found a really good clothing shop on the major consumer street Paseig de la Gracia, Pull and Bear, where if I had more time, space in my pack and gumption, I could have bought a whole bunch of things.
So ultimately, Paul and I met up for dinner and had a nice mow down near the water. Then back to the BnB and bed. Unfortunately with Paul’s cold, we both had a compromised sleep. However, now in Ibiza, although the rain and cloud seems to continue to follow us, perhaps that Mediterranean breeze with blow its healing winds.
Ahhh … Ibiza. Hang on for that one.
