Mum, being the avid shopper that she is, wanted to check out Harrods. Well Harrods in London is this VERY expensive but old department store. The only people I can imagine that can afford to shop there are the rich, the famous and the criminals. A simple t-shirt might be 300 pounds. Of course it is all designer stuff, so at least if you go there you know you are getting the real deal and not a “knock off”.
We roamed around for a bit and had a mildly expensive brunch and then headed out. Neither of us bought anything. Mum did look at purses as she has an addiction to them, but could not find a reason or excuse as to why to spend upwards of 400 pounds for another purse – she has a closet full and luckily not of that cost.
So after our little meal we went to the Victoria and Albert Museum, which was free. I love free museums. And there are quite a number of them in London that are free. It was a pretty good museum but the bulk of the content had to do with religious stuff. Which is not to say that I don’t like the history, but I get a little turned off by the main theme. You can only look at so many statues and depictions of the crucifixion of Christ before they all seem to look the same. I think we had more fun checking out the “doo-hickeys” in the store.
So next it was off to Camden Town. I knew Mum would like it as much as I did, and I was right. As I was busy in a store trying to find a t-shirt, Mum set about keeping herself busy and bought three handbags! I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t leave her side after that. She just couldn’t help herself since everything is so affordable there and so much to choose from.
Then to end the day absolutely perfectly, we had a great dinner with Luisa at this Greek restaurant. Then home to bed as Mum had a plane to catch in the morning and I had to head to Luton. Now that is another story – coming next.
It appears that your Mum and my Mom both are born to shop. Whenever I’m on a shopping excursion with my Mom, she ends up buying stuff she either doesn’t need or she has enough of. However, I’m happy that your Mum decided not to buy any purse at Harrod’s, which allowed her to buy three handbags!! HAHAHA
As always, I like your pictures, esp. the heads of the horse and lion.
