K. I was in Luxembourg last year and loved it. I can’t remember which month exactly but I think it was sometime in June. I guess I could look in my old posts and find out, but hey, well partly I am lazy and secondly when you are entering a new post in WordPress, at least with this theme, you cannot jump between windows, but I would have to save this draft and come back to it, and as I already said, I am lazy – at least as posting and working in WordPress is concerned. Now if that is not a run-on sentence I don’t know what is! Hey, my sense of humour is coming back. Yay me …
Anyway, I digress. So back to my point. So I spent another day in Luxembourg city. I really do like the place. Very walkable and very beautiful. Interestingly enough, Luxembourg has a population of about 500,000 people of which half of them are expats, so as you can imagine, there are a lot of nationalities there. The main languages are Luxembourgese (sp?), French and German. But for the most part, you can speak French to everyone.
The one thing that is too bad is that the old citadel was dismantled way back when peaceful times arrived as a way of demonstrating that peace. That is, why do you need a fortress and walls if you are not intending to defend or attack? Thus was the logic. But too bad, because I bet it would have been an amazing structure to see in modern days. Of course you can tour the casements which are essentially the rooms and caves in the rocks/cliffs between the valleys.
Now would you say the valleys surround the rocky mountain or that the rocky mountain dissects the valley. Things that make you go “hmmmm ….” Man I am on fire today!
Anyway, I just toodled about a bit and had a lovely lunch at a little pub on the river in the area known as the Grund. So idyllic. You know Europe is such a beautiful place, there is so much to see and everyplace is so unique and has so much history.
Anyway, my little visit was over and since I still had to cycle home, it was time to mount my sturdy stead and head on back to Capellen.
Well, I decided to check for you (the nice person that I am) what month last year you visited Luxembourg. Actually, it wasn’t in June, because you posted something on July 28 (not bad, you’re only off one month) plus the country comparative on Luxembourg was done in August. Hope this helps…..
Anyway, I’d like to comment on this post now. As always, I like your pictures and commentary. 🙂
Thanks for doing that Ines. So I visited a year and one month later.
