Geeze It’s About Time I Posted

Two Gorgeous Babes - proof that we only get so much better with age - men knock your socks off, but you need to earn us!

Sorry about the delay.  I have been very busy getting a life going here in Britain, but more about that later.  First and foremost I have to finish posting about the last legs of my true travelling.  Now for clarity, I have not stopped travelling – as I never will.  It is part of my person and makeup.  But I am done this almost 1 year and 9 months wander about the earth.

The first glimpse of the "in your face" Duomo

Time to put down some roots – a foundation shall we say.  Time to start earning a living in earnest again and time to have some routine.  The funny thing about travelling endlessly as I had been doing, and being officially homeless, is that I find that with the less you have to do, the less you get done.

The Duoma dwarfs the crowds of tourists

A video I took surveying the crowds of tourists

Not to say I did not achieve great things on my travels for which I am very grateful and proud of, but I had a long list of personal things I wanted to get done, and sadly I only achieved a very few of them.  As I say, the less you have to do the less you get done.  It also is something to do with constantly being on the move which makes it hard to get some things you need to get done which require a certain amount of stability.

Were there really tall people hundreds of years ago? Why are the doors always so big?

But anyway, I digress, immensely.  So back to the end of the travels … Florence.

Nature's elements take their toll

I really enjoyed Florence this time around and it largely had to do with Luisa and her friends.  What a wonderful way to be in this beautiful Italian city.

Beautiful antiquity lit up at night

Luisa has this great apartment almost right in the centre, just a hop skip and a jump from the train station.  She was so incredibly kind too as to give up her bedroom to me which had its own bathroom and she and her roommate, Anna, slept in Anna’s room.  So I have Anna to thank too.

Come dance with me Anna

So aside from our fun evening out for the Fashion Night in Florence, which I already posted about, the rest of the time Luisa and I had fun meeting up with her friends and having a girls’ night at the apartment celebrating her friend’s belated birthday.

Getting down low to get a good angle of these mammoth buildings

Florence was buzzing with tourists and the days alternated with gorgeous sun and some rain.  But it was my last time in 30+ C weather.  Haven’t seen those temperatures since I have returned to Britain.

Hey there pretty boy

So I thank you Luisa, for such a great time in such a beautiful city, and it was great to meet Anna, Marco, Nikola, Elizabeth and your other lovely friends whose names at the moment I cannot recall.  Do remind me and I will add them in.  It has been such a gift meeting Luisa and we have become close friends.  So to future get togethers and explorations of land and mind … chin chin.  To Italy I shall return.  One of my favourite countries.

That lovely building houses David I believe - saw it in 1985
