Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love stand-up comedy. Louis C.K., Eddie Izzard, Dylan Moran, these are some of my very favourites who make me laugh for hours. Always a good pick me up.
Some challenges feel insurmountable
In anycase, I like an approach Louis C.K. has started taking to cut out the middle man. You can buy his stand-up from his site for only $5. In the end, he actually ends up selling more than he did before. But that is not what this post is about. If you are on his mailing list, as I am, he sends out the odd email. And just recently I received one from him about this 30 minutes stand-up set by a woman named Tig Notaro.
And sometimes you have to look life in the face and tell it what you think
Well the reason this set is so special is that right before Tig found out she had breast cancer, right after her mother died and she had been in the hospital with a serious bacteria infection. She just found getting on stage to do her silly jokes just wasn’t going to happen and she spends the entire 30 minutes talking about her current state. And it is funny, it is real, it is heart wrenching yet still you laugh.
Sometimes life is a day at the beach
