Winding Down In France

Happy rider

So my last couple of days are upon me here in Grandmont.  Tony, Caroline and Katie return today and I have to pick them up at the airport.  As always, when the owners return though, I like the house to be as they left it, or even cleaner.  Plus I want all the chores done.  Nothing better than coming home from a holiday and being able to just drop your bags and relax.  That to me is what makes a good house sitter.

Now there is a well stacked stack of logs

And I have had a lovely time here.  It is quite remote, and it would have been perhaps a little better had I had another person with me here so that I don’t get to spend so much time in my head.  That can be a crazy place to reside for too long.  At least for my personality style – being a performer and all.

But I have really enjoyed the horses and the dogs.  Oscar, the border collie, is very affectionate and wants to be with you wherever you are.  When you sit on the couch, he wants to cuddle up right beside you and has to have his head on your lap or touching you in some way.  It really is very sweet.

A very old display of Saint Stephan in his death - it is kind of eerie and even more eerie because it is behind bars and glass

Tomorrow Katie, Caroline and I are going to go for a nice long ride.  I imagine Montie the Donkey, being left behind will kick up a big fuss and make a lot of noise.  But what can you do.

Throughout the area you will see these heavy wood beams over the doors in the stone buildings

So perhaps I will get some more pictures before I go, and will post one more time about this area.  Otherwise, stay tuned for my other miscellaneous posts and thoughts … :o)
