Welcome 2013

Here comes the subway - London tube New Year's Eve

I am trying to decide whether I will carry on with this blog.  It started as a tracing of my travels, but I am not travelling so much anymore.  So then it becomes like an online journal, which I am not sure if I should like so much of a reveal of my life – although I do try to keep that at arms length.

All the London Bobbies out to protect us from ourselves

Decisions, decisions.  I mean if I want to refer people to it, it is really helpful for people who need a reference of me.  And I have had great traffic on the site.  It is just whether it is truly what I want to keep doing.

Buckingham Palace lit up on New Year's Eve - albeit a bit blurry - my BB phone is not great for photos

New Year’s Eve here in London was pretty good.  Adrian and I headed into the city with the intent of seeing the famous fire works.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, we decided to beat the crazy movement of people that would occur after the fireworks, but heading back to Camberwell before midnight.  We were actually outside on the street when the fireworks were going off.  But given the next day that we read that 250,000 people were at the fireworks, we likely would not have made it home until 3 am amongst the crush and throngs of others.  So we didn’t actually get to see them up close, but we heard them and saw some of them.  Besides, fireworks were going off all over anyway.

Two readheads at Buckingham

Apparently it is still legal to buy fireworks here yourself and set them off where ever the mood might take you.  So all in all, it was a nice night.  Busy in London with throngs of Crowd Helpers and the Bobbies out in full force.

Canada House beside Trafalgar Square

Lots of people already inebriated and staggering well before the midnight toll.  The next morning, unfortunately, the boiler here at the place I am house sitting wasn’t working so no heat or hot water.  However British Gas was out that day and all was fixed by about 3 pm.  Unfortunately it meant that I would not get to enjoy the sunshine that lit up outside.  Today, back to clouds, although sun is imminent tomorrow.

Smile - you're on Candid Camera

So welcome in 2013 with some decisions to make.  Still in Britain, still working out what the future looks like.  Best wishes to all.

Happy New Year
